Perfect climate-Perfect control
In order to achieve optimum cooling efficiency ColdLogik adopts the simple principle of supplying cooling directly where it is needed, preventing heat gain from ever getting into the data room. This is achieved by using the cabinet rear door as a heat exchanger.
Each rear door is fitted with a high density coil, six centrifugal fans and intelligent electronics. These six variable speed fans pull the exhaust air from the incumbent equipment over a water filled coil fed via a central distribution unit ‘CDU’. Heat is transferred from the air and into the water which in turn is carried away to the chilled water services. The subsequent chilled air is forced from the back of the door and into the data room back at ambient temperature.
It is now widely accepted that even modern designed data centre's utilising the hot aisle cold aisle arrangement can only cope with 3 to 4kW from each cabinet. A number of server manufactures are already indicating heat will become even more of an issue when the next generation of products hit the market, when combined with other communications and storage equipment previously not considered a problem there is real cause for concern. There is also a determined drive to improve the efficiency of data centres as a whole, saving energy and improving carbon foot print is paramount.
Consider the facts:
By dealing with the heat generation immediately at source 100% of the delta T can be removed, removing the strain on an otherwise overloaded air conditioning system.
Unlike a number of other water cooled solutions the logic of the ColdLogik RDHx is that it does not isolate it's self from the rest of the data room rather it works in harmony with the incumbent air conditioning system. This ensures stability is always maintained throughout the load thus preventing any hot spots occurring whilst ensuring optimum performance is maintained.
